Network
On the Network tab you can configure Sonik’s network connection. By default, Sonik uses a wired connection with DHCP.
Click More Info to display current connection information. To switch from DHCP to a static IP, change the Configuration Method.
Tip
Use DHCP at all times. In the rare case you need a fixed IP address, use your router’s DHCP reservation feature rather than configuring a static IP on the device.WiFi
If a wireless interface is available on your hardware, enable it with Enable Wireless. Sonik checks for the necessary hardware and, if found, shows a Wireless tab next to the Wired tab.
Select the Interface — Sonik supports both the built-in wireless interface and external USB WiFi dongles. External dongles typically have a larger antenna than the onboard chip. See the list of known working dongles.
Click Scan to search for networks, select yours, enter the password, and apply.
Tip
Although the wired vs. wireless debate among audiophiles is ongoing, ethernet is the recommended connection type. Its advantages outweigh any disadvantages by a large margin.
