I can’t reach sonik.local in my browser

Try connecting via IP address directly. You can find it in your router’s DHCP table or using a network scanner like Fing.

Some networks — particularly corporate or tightly managed home networks — block mDNS, which is what .local addresses rely on. Using the IP address directly always works.

The green LED is blinking fast — is that normal?

Yes. Fast blinking during the first 15 minutes means installation is in progress. Wait for it to switch to a slow heartbeat (once per second) before trying to connect.

How do I run multiple Sonik units on the same network?

Give each unit a unique device name in the System tab. The default is sonik, so a second unit could be named sonik-office or sonik-bedroom. Each will then be reachable at its own .local address.

Can I switch between protocols?

Yes — you can enable multiple protocols. Keep in mind that only one can use the audio output at a time. After stopping playback on one service, wait a few seconds for the audio output to be released before starting another.

Does Sonik support wireless?

Yes. After installation, configure WiFi in the Network tab. For installation itself, a wired connection is recommended — it’s faster and more reliable.

My HAT isn’t in the list

Open an issue on GitHub. Include the HAT manufacturer and model name.

Does Sonik support native DSD?

For most USB DACs, native DSD works if the DAC supports it. Sonik also includes explicit kernel-level DSD patches for a large number of DACs. If your DAC isn’t in that list, DoP (DSD over PCM) will be used — which works reliably in almost all cases.

How do I update Sonik?

Updates are applied automatically if Auto Update is enabled in the Advanced tab. Otherwise, updates can be triggered manually from the same tab when a new release is available.
